Laura Gartner, Vice President, Collaborative Education

As Vice President of Collaborative Education for Health and Wellness Education Partners (HWeP), Laura facilitates the development and implementation of continuing medical education initiatives in collaboration with accredited providers and respected faculty.

Importantly, she ensures that HWeP’s educational activities are fair balanced and adhere to the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support, guidelines set forth by the Office of the OIG and the US FDA, the AMA Ethical Guidelines for Gifts to Physicians From Industry, and the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals.

In 1997, after 10 years of experience in public relations, marketing, and management—including as marketing manager at a large medical device manufacturer—Laura entered the medical education field. She has held several senior-level positions in program management and operations in which she was responsible for the program development and implementation teams as well as company operations. Throughout her career, Laura has served on several executive management committees. In 2003, she was a recipient of the Healthcare Business Women’s Association Rising Star award.

Laura’s experience in medical education has included the development and implementation of major international live and satellite symposia, grand rounds, live meetings, publications, print materials, teleconferences, CD-ROMs, videotapes, interactive activities, and Web-based programs. Her therapeutic experience spans the areas of gastroenterology, infectious diseases, women’s health, men’s health, neurosciences, cardiovascular diseases, managed care, pulmonary diseases, solid-organ transplantation, and oncology.
