Public Health   next » Through a collaboration with HWeP and the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NJCBVI), Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children was a recipient of the Healthy People 2010 Community Award from the National Eye Institute. Oasis Healthy Vision is a program developed to raise awareness regarding the importance of eye health and vision screenings among mothers, children and caretakers; to increase the proportion of children at Oasis who have vision screenings; and increase access to and use of eye health services by children enrolled at Oasis. The program includes the launch of a multipronged eye health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of eye health and screenings through adult education sessions and multi-lingual print media distribution. Vision screening and referrals for treatment will be provided at the Oasis health fair.
